9/25/2023 0 Comments Reactive dog boardingIt’s a crazy but creative idea to have a (well-structured) class with a bunch of dogs together who would consider eating each other as a means to their rehabilitation. It’s a blessing to have people who “get it” when your dog is misbehaving. She has also created a sense of community for those of us in the class. Vera takes great care to understand each dog’s specific needs and has given us new tools to communicate with him more effectively. He can walk parallel to another dog, the lunging and barking has been eliminated, and when he does sometimes “lose his marbles” he recovers quickly. If this is the case, you will only be charge per night at the rate of 150/night. He has progressed so much in this past year. In the beginning Boone was a lunging, barking, intimidating beast whenever he saw another dog, chomping his jaws like a crocodile. We have been participating in Vera’s reactive dog program for one year. She has a deaf dog herself and even though we weren’t a client yet, she gave us some techniques to try with him immediately. We offer two large play yards for non-social, socially challenged and/or small play groups (each 2,000sq ft in size. Not only do we have a beautiful climate-controlled kennel with state-of-the-art custom and comfortable kennels, we also boast over 1.25 acres of fenced play yards. In that first conversation, I knew we had found the right trainer. Our facility, Unleashed, is customized for dogs and dog boarding. I called her up and we had a lengthy conversation about Boone. I came across Vera’s website and saw that she had a class for dogs with this specific issue, the Rowdy Rovers. Knowing that we would need professional help, I began searching online for dog trainers who specialize in this issue. To further complicate the picture, Boone is completely deaf, limiting our ability to communicate effectively with him. We were not prepared for his level of reactivity towards other dogs. So, we were certainly surprised when during our first walk as a new family in the neighborhood, he tried to inhale a Pomeranian. He was in a foster home with other dogs and did really well when he met our other dog, Maddie. I have recommended many of my friends to Truly Balanced Dog Care, and will continue to do so.We adopted Boone, a pit bull mix, from a high kill shelter in NY. I know that while he is there, he is treated fairly, taken care of exceptionally, and above all - he is treated with clarity and respect. I attribute this positive demeanor after boarding to the expert care that the entire staff at Truly Balanced provides. He was happy, not stressed, and seemed at truly at peace. This theory of mine was completely debunked when I picked my dog up from his first boarding experience at Truly Balanced. I have used many other local kennels in the past, and my dog has come back from each experience stressed and over all uncomfortable, to which I just assumed meant that he didn't do well with boarding in general - so I tried to limit his time in kennels. The unpredictability of your everyday environment can amplify the stress and constant. Truly Balanced Dog Care is the ONLY place that I feel comfortable, and confident sending my dog. We understand the emotional journey of working with a reactive dog. All boarding stays include: 24/7 on-site supervision Clean, private kennel Multiple daily play, exercise and enrichment sessions designed to fulfill your dog’s needs as a species, breed, and individual. Boarding a reactive dog Hello, I may be overthinking this, but I am a little nervous with boarding our reactive beagle mix. My dog and I have worked with Dylan for years prior to Truly Balanced Dog Care, so to say that I was overjoyed when Truly Balanced Dog Care came to. Our boarding services provide your dog with professional, compassionate care designed to meet their behavioral needs.
